Senator Katung Speaks On Lingering Insurgency in Middle Belt

The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District in the 10th Assembly, Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung, has lamented the involvement the misconception of crisis in the middle belt with particular reference to southern Kaduna as attacks on innocent individuals rather than farmers’ herders’ conflict as it is widely reported.

 

He lamented the involvement of locals in activities that have escalated banditry and abductions of innocent people in his senatorial district. Barr. Katung made this known during a parley with journalists in kaduna, He explained that security measures are being intensified to tackle the rising insecurity in Kauru, Kachia, and other parts of the state. As such, those involved should either desist or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.

 

The senator used the opportunity to thank all stakeholders who contributed to the actualization of one of his bills, which led to the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, with a campus in Manchok. He pledged to continue pursuing more developmental projects for his people. The lawmaker also appealed to the Kaduna State Government to be deliberate in recruiting science-related teachers in secondary schools so that students can receive proper guidance and education.
